Hybrids Pitcher Plant GalleryPeople getting in to the hobby growing tropical pitcher plants are often instinctively biassed to prefer species over hybrids. However, growing hybrids is much more rewarding as these plants are usually much more vigorous, thus growing at faster speeds. A faster growth also means that the plant has more live pitchers at a time and not rarely a hybrid is generally larger than its parents. Since we want you to become excited with pitcher plants, we strongly recommend to start with some hybrids at first. Due to their vigorosity their prices tend to be lower, too. |
N. albomarginata x veitchii MT40
AVAILABLE NOW N. albomarginata, the famous termite specialist, is one of the plants that we noted to be even happy in the dry periods of Manila summer, while veitchii get some serious pitcher and peristome size in this hybrid. This very sturdy appearing hybrid is also known as N. Konak. Price: Php 400 SIZE M |
N. bicalcarata x ampullaria speckled
AVAILABLE FOR SALE Two of the tubbiest Nepenthes thrown into a hybrid sounds like a spectacular and speedy lowland mix. As our year has been cold and rainy, these plants are neither outstandingly pretty or large as of now. However if you grow it in a hot coastal climate it should turn nice quickly. Price: Php 450 SIZE S |
N. burbidgeae x edwardsiana MT
OUT OF STOCK This hybrid has two of the most spectacular parent species thinkable. Sadly we won't have it for sale any time soon. |
N. chaniana x veitchii clone 1 BE3137
AVAILABLE FOR SALE Both of the parents are on the hairy side and feature spectacular peristomes, so this should make a very unique hybrid. Due to the parentage it should do well in the lowland or highland alike. Go, get the Orang Utan of all Nepenthes, shaved Neps were yesterday! :) Price: Php 350 SIZE M |
N. clipeata x (clipeata x eymae) Munich Cross BE3045
AVAILABLE FOR SALE As clipeata is still rare and expensive, why not try this hybrid that just looks like the real thing in the meantime? Plus it comes with all the bells and whistles: Umbrella style hooded lid, subapical tendril insertation and hips like a real lady! Of course it is also speed boosted due to the hybridization. This plant is very well suited for a lowland environment and available at a spectacular price. It seems to be also one of the most delicicious pitcher plants, so please excuse if you find some insect bites on the leaves. Price: Php 350 SIZE M |
N. Coccinea
OUT OF STOCK The hybrid of ((N. rafflesiana X N. ampullaria) x N. mirabilis), a strong grower with many happy pitchers enjoying a lowland climate. In full sun deeply red pitchers can be produced. |
N. copelandii x truncata
OUT OF STOCK A natural hybrid growing in Marilog, Mindanao. It combines the vigorosity of N.copelandii with the size of N. truncata resulting a fun plant to grow. It also propagates at a good pace, so we should see these often in cultivation soon. Coming from an altitude of 1100m it is enjoying intermediate conditions. All our plants are from one male clone. |
N. Dyeriana
AVAILABLE FOR SALE We imported these plants labeled as burbidgeae x edwardsiana and while there is a remote resemblance, I believe our wholesale channel had the wrong name for it. N. Dyeriana is the hybrid of [(northiana x maxima) x (rafflesiana x veitchii)], which also explains why this plant grows well and actually quite speedy in lowland conditions... Anyway this is a very spectacular hybrid, for which you should a reserve a big space in your growing area. Supposedly there is only one female clone existing of this hybrid. This hybrid belongs to our low cost line and it has a stunning pitcher/leaf ratio (meaning the pitchers are huge compared to the leafs). Wholesale inquiries welcome. Price: Php 250 SIZE M Price: Php 350 SIZE L |
N. Gentle
AVAILABLE FOR SALE This horticultural cross is assumed to be N. fusca x N. maxima, which are already two vigorous parents. Now combine this with the powers of a hybrid and you get a fast growing plant, with wonderful speckled pitchers and stunning peristomes, that start cream striped when young and turn red later. Because of the fusca parentage the pitchers are very slim and the peristome with a steep column. While this plant is slower than Miranda, it keeps more pitchers at the same time. This hybrid belongs to our low cost line. Wholesale inquiries welcome. Price: Php 250 SIZE M Price: Php 350 SIZE L |
N. glandulifera x boschiana MT142
AVAILABLE NOW N. glandulifera is another rather newly described species, known for being extremely hairy and covered with black nectar glands from an altitude of 1200-1600m. Add to this plant the vigorous N. boschiana, which is an intermediate and we can expect another well performing hybrid. Updated images will follow as new pitchers develop. Price: Php 450 SIZE M |
N. hirsuta x spathulata MT120
AVAILABLE NOW N. hirsuta is a hairy, shade loving plant and more of a lowlander, while N. spathulata is known for large pitchers with even larger peristomes. It should make an interesting hybrid. As you can see the plants the plants have already dark pitchers at a very early stage, which is quite unusual. Price won't increase soon, so take your time ordering :) Price: Php 350 SIZE S |
N. Hookeriana cream colored
OUT OF STOCK The natural hybrid of N. rafflesiana and N. ampullaria. It looks like a giant ampullaria and is very popular for collectors. Of course this plant loves lowland climate. |
N. Hookeriana speckled
OUT OF STOCK This is the speckled form of Hookeriana. It seems to be very prolific. We got it from a friend as a rooted cutting, so the source is most likely some wholesale channel and the identification is just the best guess. |
N. Hookeriana speckled MT43
AVAILABLE NOW Hookeriana is sometimes traded for very high prices due to its beauty. However it is a very easy, common and reasonably prolific plant, so it shouldn't be that expensive. We are going to change that - only problem is, our plants are still very small. We will update the photos as new pitchers develop. Take your time ordering this plant, it will just get bigger, while staying at the same price. Price: Php 350 SIZE S |
N. x hookeriana Harlequin red BE3349
OUT OF STOCK A spectacular red Hookeriana. Sadly we were not able to get resale quantities for it. Time will come :) |
N. x kuchingensis wide peristome BE3230
AVAILABLE FOR SALE The parents of this natural lowland hybrid are N. ampullaria and N. mirabilis. In this case it is even N. mirabilis echinostoma, thus generating a huge unique peristome on this easy growing hybrid. Price: Php 450 SIZE S |
N. merrilliana x alata BE3119
OUT OF STOCK A natural hybrid from the southern Philippines that should be speedy and huge, while prospering in a lowland climate. |
N. Miranda
AVAILABLE FOR SALE The parentage of this hybrid is often mentioned as N. maxima x (N. northiana x N. maxima), although this might be just the closest guess by the Nepenthes enthusiast community. This plant produces large, sturdy leafs with extremely pretty pitchers - you will need a bit of space for this one, as they easily reach 1m diameter. It seems to enjoy lowland climate, as well as intermediate to the max. This hybrid belongs to our low cost line. These are the biggest of our low cost hybrids. In fact they are threatening to overgrow our farm. Wholesale inquiries welcome. Price: Php 350 - SIZE L Price: Php 500 - SIZE XL, half a meter diameter! |
N. Rebecca Soper
AVAILABLE FOR SALE This plant was sold to us as 'Lantern Alata', but it seemed to have nothing in common with it's name 'Alata'. Ok, we could negotiate on 'Lantern' :-) I then got information that this plant is Nepenthes 'Rebecca Soper', which is a hybrid of N. gracillima x ventricosa, respectively N. ramispina x ventricosa. This would explain why it has really dark pitchers that don't fail to amaze... This plant has generally dark red/olive leafs, quite different to it's neighbors. This hybrid belongs to our low cost line. Wholesale inquiries welcome. Price: Php 250 SIZE M Price: Php 350 SIZE L |
N. spectabilis x aristolochoides BE3180
OUT OF STOCK A very weird and a very prolific parent should make a weird looking fast growing hybrid. Will keep you updated. |
N. maxima x veitchii
OUT OF STOCK A fast, large and prolific plant that one of the Pinoy pioneers bred himself with Malesiana material and supplied us with a small plantlet. In the meantime it got a little bigger and seems to be a good pitcher keeper. This hybrid floats also under the name N. Tiveyi around and is quite popular in collections. The original Tiveyi has a maxima var. superba instead as the female parent though. Oh and while our plant is not fully mature yet, the peristome should get a lot more veitchii features later in life... |
N. x trichocarpa Brunei BE3231
AVAILABLE FOR SALE A phantastic looking lowland hybrid involving N. ampullaria and N. gracilis. It is like a miniature cylindrical ampullaria with an artistic speckling. Of course it grows quickly, too. Price: Php 450 SIZE S |
N. veitchii x platychila BE3213
AVAILABLE FOR SALE Take two of the most amazing looking parents and look forward to a very interesting hybrid. Thanks to veitchii it might do well in the lowlands and get a good size, too. N. platychila is one of the most expensive Nepenthes on the market, so why not try a hybrid in the meantime? This is another plant with a great pitcher to leaf ratio. Price: Php 700 SIZE S |
N. ventricosa x alata
AVAILABLE FOR SALE Fast growing and pitchering heavily this is a beginners favorite. As so common the origin of ventricosa x alata, which is also called 'Ventrata' sometimes, is disputed. Unlike N. ventricosa it doesn't mind a hot lowland climate so much - still it pitchers more frantically, when temperatures are slightly lower. Gender of this clone is female. There is no difference to the P250 Ventrata, we just have fewer stocks of this one. Price: Php 350 SIZE M |
N. ventricosa x alata 2
AVAILABLE FOR SALE We got this plant labeled as N. Coccinea, but with a photo of N. Ventrata. After growing it for a few months, it seems the name is wrong and the photo right. Given their growth speed, they seem to plan to take over the farm soon! They are probably the Nepenthes producing most pitchers in one year. Price: Php 250 SIZE M Price: Php 350 SIZE L |
N. ventricosa x northiana
OUT OF STOCK A very speedy plant with long lasting, colorful pitchers. A great example for an hybrid growing faster that it's parents. This plant could be also very well N. Indah (ventricosa x spathulata), I am not 100% sure, only that it is from Malesiana. |
N. ventricosa x northiana MT121
AVAILABLE NOW N. ventricosa hybrids are well known for vigorosity, toughness and beauty as they are usually glossy and hipped. If you frequent this page you can see how quickly the pitchers gain in size. Price: Php 450 SIZE M |
N. ventricosa x spathulata MT118
AVAILABLE NOW As of now not much difference can be seen to the former ventricosa x northiana hybrid, but you can join in and monitor on this very website as they keep on producing more distinct pitchers. Also this one is a strong grower that keeps pitchers for a while alive. Price: Php 450 SIZE M |
